Essential fatty acids (EFAs)

Life-long Maintenance Doses of Essential Fatty Acids: Omega-3 and Omega-6
Recommended Life-long DAILY MAINTENANCE doses of
Omega-3 ALA/EPA/DHA and optional Omega-6 GLA

Do not supplement omega-6 until you have first established a presence of omega-3

Initial dose omega-3

Vitamin E

When supplementing a fish body or liver oil,  it is important to take 400 IU of Natural Vitamin E to control the oxidation rate of the oil's PUFAs in the body.

Vitamin E

OMEGA-3 EPA/DHA

You need to average
~400 - 500 mg EPA/DHA
/day

(from fish
and/or
supplements)
Since some inhibitors to the ALA conversion pathways are likely to be present and conversion rates are low, it is necessary to obtain at least some of your DHA and EPA in a marine oil.
4-6 oz. wild-caught fish
1-
3 times / week
Amount of EPA/DHA in a serving varies with the type of fish. The oily fish have the most EPA/DHA - Eg. 4 oz raw Wild-caught Salmon (Chinook ~1500g, Coho and Sockeye ~900mg) , or 4oz  raw  wild-caught Cod (Pacific or Atlantic ~250mg)

2-1000mg
WIld Salmon oil Capsules=>
220 mg
DHA,
180mg
EPA
Wild Salmon Oil is recommended because it is the least processed of the marine oils - simply oil pressed from the fish.  It is also the most cost-effective.
Take 2 caps with a meal. Look for independent purity-testing, oxygen/light/heat-free production, good quality capsules to protect oil from oxidation, and a high stock-turnover.

2000 mg
Antarctic Krill Oil =>
 ~240mg EPA,

~120mg DHA
Take with breakfast or lunch.  A stable oil with its high antioxidant content. 40% of oil phospholipid form.  High EPA/DHA bio-availability means you don't need quite so many milligrams as in fish oil. Not at all cost-effective
See:  Antarctic Krill Oil for Omega-3
~500mg EPA/DHA in Concentrated
fish oil capsule
Omega-3 fatty acids in concentrated EE or rTG form

ALA

CHOOSE
ONE
2 Tbsp.
Fresh Ground, Organic Flaxmeal (3.2g ALA =>~.5g EPA/DHA)
A natural, unprocessed food, containing valuable nutrients (fiber, mucilage, lignans, +++);
1 1/3 Tbsp. Flax seeds yields 2 Tbsp. Flax meal.

BEST
ALA Choice - but consume no more than ~6 Tbsp. FLAXMEAL /day. Also, drink 1 Cup liquid (e.g. milk) per 3 Tbsp. ground flax (flax seed absorbs water).
1 Tbsp.
Fresh, organic, expeller-pressed Flax Oil (7.4g ALA)
Flax oil is missing protein, fiber and some vitamins/minerals from the seed. Also, the oil begins to deteriorate in the presence of light, heat and air - Once opened, flax oil keeps only 4-6 weeks in fridge. Omega-3 is made more bio-available by blending Flax Oil with Cottage Cheese to enhance Fat delivery to Cells
If you have a health problem - then taking a daily dose of several Tbsps. of flax seed OIL blended with cottage cheese is a simple, yet powerful therapy to restore health: The BUDWIG PROTOCOL
