Indications and clinical Uses for pyrantel
- For the treatment of infection with any of the
following gastrointestinal parasites when these are present either alone or as a
mixed infection:
Black scour worms
(nematodes) (Trichostrongylus colubriformis, T. orientalis.)
Pyrantel pamoate dosage
Pyrantel pamoate is usually dosed in
dogs and cats at 2.5 to 5 mg per pound (5 to 10 mg/kg)
once, then repeat in three weeks.
Dogs: Use the dose of 5-10 mg / kg (approximately 1
ml / 5 kg) of body weight;
Cats: 1 ½ ml / 5 pounds for cats. In
layman's terms, that is 1 teaspoon per 25 pounds.
